Dr Jeannie Ellis has worked in a diverse range of settings, from busy metropolitan emergency departments to remote settings as a solo Rural generalist in far remote regions of Australia and far Northern Canada.

With over 30 years’ experience in health as a primary care practitioner, Jeannie was director of the Emergency Department at QDH for 5 years and continues to work in Emergency and obstetrics at QDH. Jeannie has advanced skills in obstetrics, women’s health and broad experience overseas working in remote communities, remote Australian indigenous communities and areas of conflict in Africa. Jeannie is bilingual (Spanish) and practices trauma informed care.

In her own words:
I love working with women, young and old. I love teaching and sharing stories and helping women of all ages take control of their health problems and lead positive, healthy lives. I am passionate about women being heard and having access to good quality evidence-based advice and for the client to make their own decisions as part of a partnership in their health care journey.

In my spare time I love walking my dog, reading, cooking, music and watching my kids play sport and laughing.
